PM says Socialists have come up with ‘scrutiny mechanism’; President has given it green-light

Prime minister António Costa has told parliament that a mechanism ensuring greater care and scrutiny is taken when nominating people for government posts is on its way. The mechanism has already been given the ‘green light’ by President Marcelo, and will be ratified tomorrow in the Council of Ministers. So far, that is all he is willing to say. No-one outside the inner workings of power knows the solution for keeping badly-bruised apples out of the political barrel.
