In his speech to the country yesterday, PM António Costa said “everything points to the European Union maintaining suspension to 2022” on rules set out in the Budget Treaty which demand limits on the deficits of Member States. He said he hopes that “a serene debate on matters relating to the future of budgetary rules” in the Union can take place in the summer.
