Portugal’s prime minister, António Costa, is flying to Paris next week for a working lunch with France’s president, Emmanuel Macron to discuss this year’s Portugal-France Cross Season, a joint culture initiative. According to Mr Costa, the idea of Europe is “at the heart” of the initiative, which was postponed to start in February 2022 because of the continuing Covid-19 pandemic. It is, according to the PM, “a unique opportunity to extend the presence of Portugal in France and France in Portugal through a joint multidisciplinary programming around shared priorities, namely the defence of gender equality, sustainability and environmental preservation, and also a more united and inclusive Europe.
