PM confident of Brussels ‘green light’ to reduce IVA on fuel

PM António Costa has said today that he is confident that Brussels will give the green light needed for the government to temporarily reduce IVA on energy. The reduction mooted has been to drop from 23% to 13%. The PM did not mention these figures when addressing journalists in Brussels today, but this is the general understanding of the fuel sector which has applauded the news. Secretary general of APETRO António Comprido said that their is “no element in the value chain that has such a significant weight” as the 23% currently levied.
