FOR THE sixth consecutive year, the Associação de Solidariedade com as Crianças Carenciadas do Algarve (ACCA), a Portuguese registered charity for children in need in the Algarve, is running a Pro-Am golf day with the lady professionals on the LPGA European Tour. The event is on Sunday, June 25, at the Victoria Course in Vilamoura, which has generously donated the green fees.
First tee time is at 8am and golfers are playing a five-ball Texas Scramble. The price of 150 euros per person includes the ‘Meet the Pros’ cocktail party at Barringtons, in Vale do Lobo, on Saturday, June 24, from 7.30pm, the game (for men and women) with a Pro on the Victoria Course, the prize-giving lunch and auction at the Victoria restaurant in Vilamoura. Additional lunch guests pay 55 euros each.
Ninety-eight per cent of all monies raised go directly to an individual child, or children, in a home, or other children living below the poverty line, who desperately need help. ACCA will announce where the money will go during the prize-giving lunch.
Bookings are confirmed only with cash or cheque, payable at Barringtons’ reception, which will also handle buggy bookings (Tel 289 351 940). All players must have a handicap and must be over 18-years-old.
Anyone wishing to sponsor, or take part in the event in any way, should call Jane Oliphant on 919 383 593 or Susanne Lastein Guerra on 919 383 591.
