PJ police in Madeira have arrested a 44-year-old man who fled the UK under suspicion that he had been sexually abusing a child, described in reports as “a close relative”. The man, whose name so far has not been given, is Portuguese and fled to his home neighbourhood of Santa Cruz. He is due to be presented before a judge on the island, with a view to extradition to UK.
