PJ police search laboratories in Algarve and Porto over suspicions of false covid-testing racket

PJ police have mounted an operation in the Algarve and Porto today, investigating suspicions of a ‘false Covid test’ racket operating within the football sector. Says a statement put out to the press, searches are underway in various homes and laboratories. The origin of the investigation appears to have been the arrival in this country on a plane from ‘abroad’ of a footballer “allegedly infected with Covid-19”. The footballer will have been travelling on the basis of a negative test as the potential crimes being described are “propagation of a disease and alteration of analysis”. Updates on this story will follow.
