PJ police are said to have two suspects for the shoot-out between rival gangs in Monte da Caparica last Friday. No arrests have yet been made. Interviewing locals in the area, SIC Notícias heard that shoot-outs at night between gangs, and “almost always about drugs”, are now commonplace. Residents stressed how they dare not open their doors at night – or venture outside. A source for the GNR has told Lusa that police presence in the area has been increased since the incident, in which seven others were hurt, “to avoid retaliations and other incidents”.
