PJ police have today arrested the Brazilian mother of twin babies found dead in an apartment in Cascais last weekend (click here).
According to a statement sent to national media, the 33-year-old woman faces suspicions of aggravated homicide and the desecration of a corpse.
The victims, one of each sex, were discovered last Saturday.
The mother is to be taken before a magistrate for questioning.
UPDATE: the woman has been remanded in custody. Prosecutors are described as “having no doubts” that she killed her two newborns intentionally, strangling them with her own hands. The babies also suffered head injuries, believed to have been caused from being “dropped on the floor”. Explain reports, the children were born in perfect health and at full-term.
