Pirate Week returns to Armação de Pêra

Armação de Pêra is becoming “pirate central” once again. Between July 30 and August 5, the coastal town will host its second ‘Pirate Week’ event.

After all expectations were exceeded in its first year, organisers Polis Apoteose say they are committed to making this year’s festival even better.

While many activities are on offer, one of the highlights will be to take visitors back to 1559, when Turkish pirates landed on Armação’s shores intent on pillage and plunder. The performance will be divided into six acts to be performed throughout the week.

Other attractions include bazaars, medieval taverns and a variety of street performances.

The bulk of the event will take place on the Baía de Armação de Pêra, alongside the sea, between 6pm and 1am.

Admission is free.
