Portuguese naval frigate Bartolomeu Dias is taking part in a multinational exercise in the Gulf of Guinea this week designed to help combat piracy and the illegal trafficking of drugs and weapons. The event involves participation by 21 countries, including the US and African nations. Bartolomeu Dias carries 186 personnel, including a team of riflemen and coastguards from the island of São Tomé e Príncipe.
