FOLLOWING A surprise inspection carried out by the GNR and the Inspecção-Geral das Actividades Culturais, the general inspectorate for cultural activities, at Quarteira market, 3,156 pirate DVDs, CDs and games were seized, along with 3,000 pieces of counterfeit clothing, footwear and sunglasses.
The raid took place last week, as part of an operation to combat fake merchandise being sold at fairs and markets. It was estimated that the merchandise seized, if sold legally, was worth around 130,000 euros.
A vehicle used to transport counterfeit goods was also confiscated.
