Cycling’s 30th Tour of the Alentejo lived up to its tradition of providing a different winner for each of its runnings over the past three decades.

This year Efapel-Glassdrive principal Sérgio Ribeiro was attempting to repeat his 2006 triumph but was rarely seen in contention behind Carmim-Prio-Tavira pacesetter Samuel Caldeira. The Algarvean was still in the lead after the third and penultimate stage but his three-second advantage was not enough to hold off Russian Alexey Kunshin who claimed the decisive yellow jersey for the Lokosphinx team by one second.
