In a change in company policy effective from September 1, Pingo Doce supermarket chain will only accept payment by credit or debit cards when purchases exceed €20.
With the new payment measure, the company expects to save an approximated €5 million per year on service fees they are currently paying for card charges.
A total 371 Pingo Doce stores will be implementing this new regulation.
Although many consumers throughout the region who regularly shop with the supermarket have already expressed their unhappiness about the change, Pingo Doce assures that this business decision will make it possible for them to develop further saving initiatives in store; something which customers will benefit from.
