A Pilates studio “with a difference” has recently opened in the Jardim das Dunas area of Lagos. A young British couple came up with the idea of combining the Pilates studio with a surf gallery, featuring some of the world’s most famous surfing photographers (see page 12).
Pilates teacher Lisa Longhurst said: “My family and I have been coming to the Algarve for years and as a fully-trained Pilates teacher, I could see there was a need for a studio with the most sophisticated equipment on the market.
“I know from experience how important it is to be in a calming environment when you are doing Pilates. Being surrounded by these beautiful works of art while bending and twisting is so refreshing.”
Away from the main studio area where Lisa holds group mat-work classes, there’s a separate room decked out with the most modern equipment for people to be trained more intensively one-on-one. Equipment used is designed to work on core areas, ideal for rehabilitation, injuries or simply years of bad posture.
Lisa offers training for groups of three, while still ensuring that each individual gets a personal programme tailored specifically for them. An introductory deal is available – 10 classes for €60.
