Year nine students from the International School São Lourenço (ISSL) in Almancil showed off their photography work after taking part in an 11-week photography course.
An exhibition of work by the pupils was on display at the school on May 19 while Jaap De Dood, Nicole Lee, Apollonia Leigh, Claudia Strydom and Alice Gonçalves were the prize winners from the course and were presented with enlarged black and white prints of their work.
The course was led by Helena Kouzeleas, a fashion, music and celebrity photographer from London who has worked previously for publications including Marie Claire and GQ.
The school now boasts a newly-opened darkroom for students with equipment lent to students by one of the governors of the school, Alistair Irvine.
Helena Kouzeleas will now be teaching students how to make large black and white prints of their work.
