The Australian pianist is planning a “Romantic Programme” for his Algarve performances

Amigos de Música are organising two concerts in March with Australian pianist Piers Lane. The concerts will take place at Os Agostos estate, near Santa Bárbara de Nexe, on March 21 and 23.

Piers Lane is planning a “Romantic Programme” for his Algarve performances “to recognise the 150th anniversary of the birth of Sergei Rachmaninov (born near Novgorod, Russia, on April 1, 1873; died in Beverly Hills, USA, on March 28, 1943).

On March 21, he will play several Preludes and the Variations by Sergey Rachmaninov followed by 12 pieces by Frederic Chopin.

On March 23, he will play Grieg’s Holberg Suite and Variations by Piotr Tchaikovsky, John Field and Alexander Glazunov.

He has written and presented over 100 programmes for BBC Radio 3, including the 54-part series ‘The Piano’.
