Philippe Claisse sculptures unveiled at Vale do Lobo

AN EXHIBITION of modern iron sculptures by Philippe Claisse is currently on display at the Vale do Lobo Art Gallery.

The French artist’s quirky sculptures are made from pieces of iron, such as nuts, bolts, hinges and other implements. Cleverly designed and put together, the sculptures make elegant and unusual garden pieces.

The new collection is of animals, with the artist managing to convey amusing personalities to each of the pieces, through clever use of materials.

Philippe Claisse has been living and working in the Algarve since 1972 and has been exhibiting throughout Portugal during this time.

The exhibition, organised in collaboration with the São Lourenço Cultural Centre, will run until October 10.
