PGAs of Europe choose Algarve

The Annual Conference and the International Team Championships (ITC) of the Professional Golfers Association of Europe (PGAsE) will be held in the Algarve from November 27 to December 1, the first time the events have been hosted in Portugal.

A protocol of the agreement to host the two events in the region was signed on July 27 by Nuno Aires, president of Algarve Tourism Board, ERTA, and Ian Randell, CEO of PGAs of Europe.

“We are delighted to bring our Congress and the ITC to the Algarve, which, over the years, has seen its reputation grow to become one of the most highly regarded international golfing destinations,” said Ian Randell.

“We are very proud to host this event for the first time,” added Nuno Aires.

The conference will be held in the Hotel Tivoli Victoria in Vilamoura and will bring together more than 100 senior executives from 37 professional golf associations.

Simultaneously, Vale do Lobo will host the ITC, to be played on the Royal and Ocean golf courses.

The events will finish with a gala dinner, where the ITC’s awards will be presented plus the Lindberg Bowl annual trophies in honour of Christer Lindberg, who was responsible for the boom of the sport in Sweden over the last 25 years and who was the first president of the PGAs of Europe.
