As controversy continues to dog the vaccine roll-out, Expresso reports today that the cost of the Pfizer/ BioTech vaccine (already the most expensive in use on the Portuguese market at 15.50 euros a shot) is set to increase to as much as €20. It began the pandemic at just €12… Says the paper, the European Commission has never revealed the price of Covid-19 vaccines, but last December Belgian secretary of state Eva de Bleeker tweeted the prices. The tweet – showing how AstraZeneca, at 1.78 euros, was a fraction of the price of Pfizer and Moderna – was later deleted.
