A petition signed by over 3,400 people (at the time of writing) calling for the “urgent implementation” of the Azores’ marine protected areas in 30% of the sea will be delivered to the regional parliament on Friday, justified by their “clear over-exploitation”.
The petition states that “the seas of the Azores, historically so important to the local economy and identity, have been suffering from clear overexploitation over the last few decades”.
