ANIMAL CHARITY, the Associação de Protecção Animal do Algarve (APAA), were present at the Children’s Fun Day held at Pet Park in Mexilhoeira Grande last weekend, raising money for the care of abandoned animals. Second-hand books, videos and DVDs were on sale, as well as homemade preserves. The charity stall also included a tombola, which proved a definite hit. The event’s activities focussed around dogs – there was an obstacle course and lots of fun races, all of which were greatly enjoyed by the owners and their four-legged friends. Children at the event queued up to take pony rides and marvelled at the newborn kittens being cared for at Pet Park. Kids from Lagos orphanage were invited to the event, greatly enjoying their day out with the animals.
