Lagos municipal kennel is now an official animal collection shelter with pet-friendly policies in place.
The alteration to its status was granted by the Ministry of Agriculture and means that the facility can keep 42 dogs and seven cats at all times, but always with a view to re-homing them.
Through its Ami(cão) ‘adopt a friend’ campaigns, the number of pet adoptions in the council have increased and each week pictures of animals looking for homes can be seen on the Câmara’s website at www.cm-lagos.pt (go to ‘serviços municipais’ and click on ‘canil/gatil’).
