APAA’s (Association for Protection of Animals Algarve) celebration ‘Posh Plates Special Tea’ was a sell-out from the moment it went to press! What a wonderful achievement for both APAA and ER, the only monarch to serve 70 years.
Our own ‘Pop-Up Queen’, Anita, set up her temptation stall at Jackie’s, selling someone else’s scrumptious baked goodies – Jubilee Lovelies Anita, Jane and Jenny!
A beautiful, balmy, typical English Summer’s Day! Blue skies, the odd cloud scudding by, bunting and brollies bouncing in the Algarvean breeze, muffins, scones, cakes, sausage rolls, pasties … Oh, what a dream!
APAA members and followers, all 33, turned up ready for their savoury and sweet specials of the day – roast beef, egg mayo and smoked salmon sandwiches amongst the many delights!
Now, it’s the end of spring and beginning of summer Pop-Up Bargain Sale. Yes! It’s time for a real Pop-Up session at Recanto dos Mouros, behind Silves Castle. A sale to beat all sales. Retail therapy, browse, buy and lunch! Why not? All funds for APAA’s work for SNiP (Spaying and Neutering Programme) for abandoned animals and cat colonies, giving our feline friends a chance to survive peacefully and canines to be re-homed more easily; especially the injections for re-homed young pups, if new owners need help with their medical bills. APAA’s helping hands are there to do just that. ‘Hope’ and ‘Help’ are synonymous with all animals’ survival.
During the last eight months or so, we have managed to re-home several dogs and cats. This has been through the amazing work of helping hands. Word of mouth, printed pages, online, Facebook. People who actually do the hands-on stuff. Thank you!
