Pessimism exaggerated

Predictions by members of the tourism community in the Algarve of this summer being the worst of the decade for trade have been rejected by the President of Turismo de Portugal, Luís Patrão.

He said: “I am absolutely certain that it will not be the worst summer of the decade, perhaps the worst of the past three years, but we are not expecting any drop to exceed more than 10 per cent.”

Luís Patrão believes that conditions this year will still allow for an income of seven billion euros to be received in Portugal.
