A shop selling unique handicraft goods from wool, cotton and other natural fibres opened in Carvoeiro, Lagoa, on Monday.
Located opposite the post office, Cantinho da São was born after owner São Assunção decided to turn her lifelong hobby into a business.
São Assunção said: “In recent years, I started dedicating more time to my hobby, creating all sorts of personalised gifts, such as baby items, blankets, bed throws, cushions, poufs and slippers.”
When orders started coming in from family and friends, São realised that her creations could make her some money and she began working from home.
It was after attending fairs such as Fatacil in Lagoa this year and receiving “very positive feedback” from customers that São decided it was time to open her own shop.
Cantinho da São is currently selling items made especially for the festive season, such as Christmas tree decorations made out of wool.
The shop is open Monday to Friday from 9am to 7pm and Saturday from 9am to 1pm.
São accepts orders and can deliver free of charge in the western Algarve.
