Fiesa, the seventh international sand sculpture festival in Pêra, will be opening to the public on May 22.
Construction of the sculptures is due to start today (Friday), with the theme for this year’s exhibition being discoveries.
This will include sand sculptures relating to human history and evolution, passing from pre-history to the middle ages and present day scientific and technological Discoveries.
The exhibition, which involves the work of more than 50 sculptors from around the world, will be open from 10am until midnight everyday until October 22.
As well as seeing the sand exhibition, visitors will also be entertained with live music, theatre and dance performances.
