A good field of golf pros and amateurs enjoyed the fine weather and the picturesque surroundings of the Morgado course in the penultimate round of the popular Blevins Franks series held on September 5.
In the Pro event just one stroke separated the top four pros and Jose Dias (pictured) and Nelson Cavalheiro shared the first place winnings with a score of 71 (-2).
Sean Hawker and fellow pro Elidio Costa tied for 3rd with a score of 72 (-1).
José Dias also led his team of amateurs, Stuart Olgivy, Joaquim Silva and Luis Manuel Pinto Sequeira, to victory on the day with a solid 91 points.
They were followed by 3rd placed pro, Elidio Costa and amateurs Francisco Coelho, Andre Perreira and Paulo Mendes on 90.
Alex Saunders with amateurs John Barham and Frank and Eileen Brazier came 3rd in the team event with a score of 86 points.
The series always holds a “Nearest the Pin” competition with prizes for Ladies and Gents amateurs, and on Sunday Jane Reason and Roberto Matias took the prizes.
Gavin Scott of the series sponsors, Blevins Franks Financial Management, thanked all those that attended with special thanks to the Pro Golfers who have all helped make the series so popular with Amateurs golfers.

The final event of the 2010 series will be played on November 3 at the Oceânico Amendoeira, O’Conner course, with buggies, lunch and prizes (provided by Augusta Golf).
