An 83-year-old woman suffered an horrific death in her own home when her head became stuck in the lift she had had installed to take her from the ground floor to the first floor.
The causes of the accident are being investigated by the GNR.
Say reports, the woman’s head appears to have become trapped “between the lift bar and the floor surface of the first floor”.
The victim’s daughter raised the alarm yesterday afternoon.
Correio da Manhã tabloid says the woman lived in the house in Termas de São Vicente, Penafiel with her husband who is bedridden.
It is not explained if the couple were alone in the house when the accident happened.
