Penelope (Penny) Trubshaw Obituary

Following a long illness, bravely borne, Penelope (Penny) Trubshaw passed away peacefully on Saturday, July 22 at her home with her husband of 43 years, her daughter Jackie (Offen) and son Stephen at her bedside.

Penny and David moved to Portugal in 2003 from East Sussex. They were both book lovers, “hooked on books”. Penny worked for many years at Foyles Bookshop in London.

In 1982, they opened their first bookshop Unicorn Books, in Epsom, Surrey, and retired and moved to Portugal in 2003. One of Penny’s most enjoyable interests was reading and being read to. Penny enjoyed their lovely garden and supported David in his many interests, including Rotary, art and enjoyment of fine wines.

Penny’s many friends will attest to her quick sense of humour and caring nature. She loved the various animals she cared for over the years and one of her most treasured memories was swimming with the dolphins in Zoomarine. This memory led to her wish that after she died her ashes be taken out to sea where she could, once again, swim with the dolphins.

She will be missed by her family and many friends.

Penny leaves her husband David, daughter Jackie, son Stephen, son-in-law Will and sister Gillian.
