Pedro Pereira Gonçalves, Chief Winemaker at Monte da Ravasqueira in Arraiolos, has been named “Young Winemaker of the Year” by Prémios W awards, organised by Portugal’s celebrated wine expert Aníbal Coutinho.
Gonçalves’ “innovative and consistent approach” that has seen Monte da Ravasqueira win multiple prizes – including Portugal’s Escolha de Imprensa 2015 competition and ‘Portugal Red of the Year’ at the New York International Wine Competition – is what spurred the jury into making its decision.
The 35-year-old winemaker has been working at Monte da Ravasqueira since 2012.
