Pediatricians call for urgent reopening of Portugal’s schools

The Portuguese society of pediatricians is calling for the “urgent reopening” of schools, stressing children are “feeling consequences that will become more serious the longer it takes to return to face-to-face teaching”.

The bottom line, warn the experts, is that children are “not developing capacities, inequalities are becoming more pronounced, mental health and social and family relations are suffering, and there is a risk of obesity and other diseases”, as children becoming less and less active.
