PCP celebrates party’s 100th birthday with hundreds in Lisbon’s Praça do Rossio

Hundreds of card-carrying members of Portugal’s PCP communist party turned up in force in Lisbon yesterday – in spite of ongoing lockdown measures – to celebrate the party’s 100th birthday. Long-term leader Jerónimo de Sousa gave a rallying speech, calling for an “intensification of all the struggles”. Over social media, commentators simply questioned why for some people ‘confinement doesn’t apply’.
