Pavarotti’s Lisbon show rescheduled for health reasons

ITALIAN OPERA star Luciano Pavarotti has been forced to scrap eight concerts on his farewell tour, including his Portugal show, because of a back injury.

The Lisbon show at Pavilhão Atlântico, which was originally set for April 21, was rescheduled for September 29. Other shows postponed were those planned in Brazil, Bosnia, Austria, Switzerland, Finland, Norway and Chile.

The 70-year-old is taking two months off to undergo treatment for his lower back in New York, and will not be performing again until June 3, when he is scheduled to play in Canada. Specialists warned the singer not to travel until his treatment programme is complete, in order to avoid serious long-term damage.

Pavarotti has apologised to fans and promoters affected by the delaying of the eight concerts and is asking for the understanding of all involved. Tickets that were purchased for the April 21 Lisbon show will now be valid for the rescheduled performance taking place on September 29.

There are still a few seats available for the Pavarotti concert in the capital: to purchase tickets, which are priced between 37.50 and 260 euros each, call 218 918 505, visit www.pavilhãoatlantico.pt or call in at any Fnac store.
