AN ITALIAN couple in Rome have been forgiven by their local Bishop after they were caught having sex in a church confessional box while morning Mass was being conducted.
The couple had been detained by police after the incident and were cautioned for obscene acts in public and disturbing a religious function after the episode in the cathedral in northern Cesena.
A lawyer for the couple told a local newspaper that the pair had been up all night drinking and realised they had gone too far with their reckless antics that night.
A Mass of reparation was held in the cathedral in question to try and atone for the sacrilege that had occurred.
