Partners to be allowed to accompany pregnant mothers in hospital under change in Covid rules

Notwithstanding the pandemic, partners of women in labour are to start being allowed to accompany pregnant mothers in hospital, from routine appointments and ultrasound exams to the birth itself. A new rule issued by the DGS health authority says hospitals “must assure the necessary conditions to guarantee the presence of a companion during labour, who must complete a clinical and epidemiological questionnaire”. If the companion is fully-vaccinated, he/ she will not be expected to take a test for Covid-19.
