Porto’s municipal police and civil protection are calling on the public to avoid areas with trees in the city, as the council has decided to close all urban parks. “Anyone who doesn’t need to use their personal vehicle should not do so today during the day and avoid areas with any trees”, António Leitão da Silva, commander of the Porto municipal police, said during work ongoing to remove a very large tree that fell in Praça da República earlier today, forcing the road to be cut off. Areas of the north and centre are expected to receive the worst of today’s bad weather.
