Around 100 people gathered at Largo do Carmo in Faro on Thursday last week to protest against the introduction of additional pay-and-display car parks in the city.
The Câmara measure, implemented since the beginning of the month, has already led to 3,000 people signing a petition calling for its immediate suspension.
Local business owners say the paid car parking is driving customers away.
