Paragliding accident sees man treated in hospital

A 59-year-old German man was injured in a paragliding accident after falling 15 metres from a cliff in Praia da Falésia, Albufeira on Saturday afternoon (May 27).

Reports suggest the accident happened when the man was trying to take off in the paraglider, which apparently malfunctioned and “did not open”.

Eleven firefighters and INEM rescue personnel backed by five vehicles assisted.

The injured man, believed to live in the Algarve, was conscious throughout, and taken for treatment to leg injuries to Faro Hospital.

Says Correio da Manhã, Praia da Falésia is a well-known spot for paragliding.
