Paper for food

A nationwide campaign to collect recyclable paper to raise money for food for underprivileged people has proven a success in the Algarve.

In partnership with waste management company Quima, Portugal’s Food Bank launched the ‘Papel por Alimentos’ (Paper for Food) campaign in January.

The Algarve branch announced this week that it had already collected 7,530 tonnes of paper. For every tonne collected, Quima will pay €100, which will be used to purchase food items.
