PAN questions Olhão mayor over municipality’s “sick horses”

Concern over the large number of “malnourished, dehydrated, sick and injured horses” in Olhão has led animal rights party PAN to question the local council about what it is doing to tackle this issue.

The question came at the latest municipal assembly and saw Mayor António Pina answering that Olhão is an example when it comes to rescuing horses in need.

But PAN says that reports from local citizens suggest otherwise.

The party says that there is a large number of horses that are “forced to work beyond their physical capabilities” and that the situation is made even worse by “authorities’ ineffective action”.

Thus, PAN urges the local council to reveal how many horses have been rescued in the municipality and how they were treated.
