PAN continues to fight for pet-friendly beaches in Algarve

Political party PAN wants the Algarve to boast two “pet-friendly beaches” and is again calling for a meeting with the Algarve municipalities association (AMAL).

“For PAN, it is incomprehensible that there isn’t one pet-friendly beach in the whole Algarve to allow citizens to enjoy family time with their pets,” says the party’s regional delegation.

“This is one of the goals that we will fight for in 2020 and we won’t give up.”

The party had already requested an “urgent meeting” with AMAL in July to discuss this (click here), however it “fell on deaf ears”, said PAN (standing for people, animals and nature) in a statement sent to the press on Monday.

Now, “just months away from the start of the bathing season, we are again pushing for the creation of pet-friendly beaches”.

While there are many beaches in the region that are well-known among locals as being “dog-friendly”, according to PAN, the lack of official “pet-friendly beaches” has led many people to complain and even threaten to spend their holidays elsewhere.
