PAN Algarve collects donations for Turkey

Campaign runs until Wednesday, February 15

PAN Algarve is collecting donations for the victims of the devastating 7.8 earthquake which has killed over 34,000 people in Turkey and Syria, with death rolls rising by the day, and left hundreds of thousands without a home.

Among the most badly-needed items are winter clothes for children and adults, diapers, animal food, hygiene products, canned and non-perishable food, tents, sleeping bags, thermal bottles and flashlights.

Donations can be made until Wednesday, February 15 – the deadline set by the Turkish Embassy in order to get these items to those in need as quickly as possible.

Anyone interested in making a donation can contact the political party (+351 213 426 226 or [email protected]) to schedule the drop-off at the PAN HQ on Estrada de São Luís, 7ºB in Faro.

Once the donation drive is completed, the items will be delivered to the Turkish Embassy in Lisbon.

“We understand this is a race against time and mostly against the cold, as the low temperatures in the areas which were most seriously destroyed make it harder for people and animals to survive,” PAN Algarve says in a statement.

“We call on the people of the Algarve to mobilise, because we never know when something similar can happen in the Algarve, and in that case international help can also be crucial,” the political party adds.
