Palmela’s Autoeuropa hit by new stoppage due to lack of components

The global lack of semiconductor chips has led to a new production stoppage at Palmela’s Autoeuropa car assembly plant. Following a three-day hiatus, the centre that produces vehicles for Volkswagen is closing for a further week. Salaries are protected. The company has said it will be seeking support under a government programme. The semiconductor issue is a consequence of the pandemic and has already caused a number of stoppages at the plant (click here).
