Golfers and guests are invited to enjoy and learn about the new PowerPlay golfing format at the newly-designed course at Palmares tomorrow (Saturday).
Members, guests and anyone interested in either the course or PowerPlay are invited to the golf day, which costs €55 per person and includes golf all day, a lunch and prize giving including a raffle.
In the morning those attending will be able to play nine holes of traditional golf over the Alvor or Lagos course while in the afternoon there will be a nine hole PowerPlay golf competition on the Praia course.
PowerPlay golf was inspired by the Twenty20 cricket format and is played over nine holes using the Stableford scoring system but with a twist with games often being won and lost on the ninth hole.
There are two flags on each green and players can score extra points with a birdie or better by choosing to play the PowerPlay flag. Players must have three PowerPlays in the first eight holes and can go for a bonus on the ninth but risk losing points if they score a net bogey or worse.
