Pairing food and wine

There is only one thing better than good food and that is enjoying a well paired glass of wine with it. However, just what to pair with what can be a difficult task for those of us who are not so well versed in the world of wines.

Gone are the days when it was white wine for fish, red wine for meat and something sweet with dessert. Now there are many options of wine to compliment food and to learn more about the best matches, Le Meridien Penina Golf & Resort are offering a wine and food pairing experience.

The next experience from the resort near Portimão will be held in Le Grill Restaurant today (Friday) and will be presented by a bilingual sommelier who will be explaining the characteristics of the wines in detail.

The experience is being held in partnership with Quinta da Aveleda, a winery based in the north of Portugal near Porto, and costs €29 per person including the wine and food prepared by executive Chef Bernard Luissiana.

The following pairing experience will also take place in Le Grill Restaurant on August 5 and is being hosted in association with the Herdade dos Grous winery.
