The country house Quinta Brito de Lima in Paderne will be hosting a slowfood event on September 22.
The event, which will take place on the day of the autumnal equinox, is starting at 9am with a walk to the Castle of Paderne, along with a farmer’s market selling organic produce and handicrafts.
From 10am, there will be Algarvean food demonstrations, with several local restaurants providing visitors with a taste of the region.
Another highlight will be the communal lunch, at 1pm, where guests are invited to bring along their own starters, main dishes, desserts or fruit and place them on the communal table for everyone to share. The goal is to introduce people to different dishes and gastronomies.
More than just about food, the event will also see several painters and sculptors displaying their work, as well as the screening of documentaries on subjects such as nature, astronomy, art and, of course, food, including public documentaries directed by the associations Slowfood International and In Loco.
For those who need to relax, there will also be free Reiki and massage sessions. All visitors have to do is sign up by email to
email@example.com and make a small donation to cover the country house’s electricity costs.
