THIS SUNDAY, January 8, Paderne (Albufeira) will host the 19th Encontro de Janeiras, a choral festival featuring typical songs to welcome the New Year.
The festival is considered one of the most important events of its type in the Algarve and will bring together 16 different choral groups in two separate performances featuring traditional music. The first will take place at 3pm in the churchyard of the Igreja Paroquial and a second will be staged at 8.30pm in the hall at the Casa do Povo de Paderne.
The event is being organised by the Friends of Paderne Group with the support of the local Junta de Freguesia and Albufeira Câmara.
