Two members of Algarve Croquet Club (ACC) have raised over €2,000 for the local Bombeiros, with more donations still being made.
Stephanie Shreeve and Dusan Turcer completed a gruelling 24-hour overnight croquet session, with all funds raised helping to buy much-needed equipment and clothing for the firefighters.
Organiser and ACC Club Secretary Stephanie Shreeve said: “We set ourselves a target of €1,500, so we’re delighted to have exceeded that and grateful to everyone who cheered us on and donated, either on the day itself or via our website. It’s a great way of showing our appreciation for the tremendous work of the Bombeiros.”
Dusan said: “It was exhausting but fun and it was pleasing to be joined by so many players and well-wishers. We even had local firefighters with us, showing their support.”
