Following on from a memorandum of understanding agreed last June, Brussels has now approved a total of 15 projects in Portugal and Spain designed to “improve electrical connections between the Iberian Peninsula and the rest of Europe”.
Among these is a €250,000 link in the north of the country, joining Pedralva (Braga) with Alfena (Porto), and a €1.47 million gas pipeline, joining Spain with France.
The works should “stop the Iberian Peninsula from being an island, from an energy point of view”, explain news reports.
